Sofia confirmed as host city for Eurovision 2027

Following Bulgaria’s historic win at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest by singer Dara with the song “Bangerangá”, the European Broadcasting Union announced that Sofia will host the 2027 edition. The decision was confirmed at a press conference by Milena Milotina, director‑general of the Bulgarian National Television, who said, “We will see you in Sofia next year.”

Sofia meets all EBU requirements: the city’s arena seats over 10,000 spectators, offers extensive hotel capacity, and is served by the country’s largest airport that operates year‑round. The venue also provides the technical infrastructure needed for complex stage productions, including a high ceiling and large production spaces. An alternative site in the Black Sea city of Burgas was considered, but its smaller airport and limited seasonal flight connections were judged insufficient for an event of this scale.

The selection underscores Bulgaria’s new status as a Eurovision host nation after its first victory, and preparations are expected to continue through 2026.
