Sofia district holds consultations for presidential election commission

Consultations to determine the composition of the Regional Election Commission (RIK) for the Sofia district will take place on August 27 at 15:00. The meeting will be held at the Sofia Regional Administration building.

These consultations are part of the preparations for the upcoming presidential and vice-presidential elections, which are scheduled for October 25, 2026, following a decision by the 52nd National Assembly. The process is being conducted in accordance with the Election Code and a decision by the Central Election Commission.

The consultations are public and involve parties and coalitions represented in the 52nd National Assembly, though other political groups may also participate. Parliamentary forces are responsible for proposing members for the commission, including the chairperson, deputy chairpersons, and secretary. For electoral districts with up to 9 mandates, the commission consists of 13 members.
