Sofia father and son detained for online psychotropic drug trafficking

A father and son have been detained in Sofia for operating an online scheme to distribute psychotropic drugs and other medications. The suspects, identified as Milen and Mihail Pavlov, allegedly advertised medications on social media and coordinated orders via Viber. To evade detection, they labeled shipments as “food supplements” and used courier services for delivery.

Police investigations revealed that the operation had been active since at least November 2025, generating daily profits between 2,000 and 3,000 euros. During searches of rented apartments used for the business, authorities seized over 3,000 medication blisters. Some of the drugs were reportedly sourced from Serbia, while others were obtained within Bulgaria. The seized items included psychotropic substances and medications intended for patients with severe illnesses.

The Sofia City Court has ordered the detention of both men. While the defense argued for house arrest, citing discrepancies in the charges, the court ruled that the high level of public danger posed by the specific substances justified the detention.
