Sofia Film Fest Brings Open-Air Cinema to Kyustendil in August

The 11th edition of the Sofia Film Fest will take place in Kyustendil from 7 to 28 August. The festival transforms Velbzhd Square into an open‑air cinema venue, offering free screenings each Friday evening at 21:00. A curated selection of Bulgarian and international films will be shown, with a focus on contemporary Bulgarian cinema.

Special guests include directors Svetoslav Ovcharov and Stanimir Trifonov, and producer Svetla Tsotsorkova, who will present their own films and meet the audience. The program begins on 7 August with the Bulgarian film “Zalog,” presented by Ovcharov and Tsotsorkova, followed by “Mila Rodino” on 14 August with guest director Trifonov. On 21 August a German film, “Rainsko Zlato,” will be screened, and the festival concludes on 28 August with the Iranian film “Obiknoven Incident,” a Golden Palm winner. In case of rain, screenings will be moved to the Youth Center.
