Sofia Kuzeva-Cherneva discusses career and personal experiences

Bulgarian actress Sofia Kuzeva-Cherneva, best known for her role as Dana in the film ‘Vchera’, shared personal reflections during a recent episode of the ‘Temple of Stories’ podcast hosted by Mon Dieu.

Kuzeva-Cherneva revealed that shortly after turning 18, she was approached with an inappropriate proposition by a director who suggested a role in exchange for sexual favors. She recalled her father’s warnings about the difficulties women face in the acting profession, noting that she rejected the offer and left the premises immediately.

Regarding her career, the actress expressed that while she is proud of her iconic role in ‘Vchera’, she occasionally finds it repetitive to discuss the character. She noted that the role defined her public image for generations of Bulgarians.

Additionally, discussing her life in Germany, she commented on the political climate, specifically the rise of the ‘Alternative for Germany’ (AfD) party, which saw 44% support in Saxony-Anhalt in September. She attributed such political shifts to public frustration over economic hardships and social challenges.
