Sofia Longo competes in Judo Cadet World Championships

Italian judoka Sofia Longo, a 16-year-old representative of Judoka Riccionese, competed in the Cadet Judo World Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Entering the tournament as the 8th seed, Longo's pursuit of a medal ended in her opening match against Turkey's Sema Nur Yüksel, who ultimately secured the silver medal.

Giuseppe Longo, the technical director of Judoka Riccionese ASD, noted the high level of competition and the difficulty of the draw, stating that the tournament was unusual as few seeded athletes reached the medal rounds. Despite the early exit, Longo's recent career includes six European Cup medals and a 5th-place finish at the 2026 Cadet European Championships.
