Sofia Municipality demands urgent repairs to Ring Road bridge

The Sofia Municipality is urgently demanding repairs to a dangerous bridge on the Sofia Ring Road located above Simeonovo Boulevard. The issue concerns damaged expansion joints that pose risks to motorists, including potential tire damage and road accidents.

Mayor Vasil Terziev stated that the municipality has been seeking a solution from the Road Infrastructure Agency (API) since February 2024, but official correspondence has remained unanswered. Although the bridge is state property under the jurisdiction of API, the municipality has offered to organize and conduct the repairs itself to expedite the process, an offer that has also received no response.

Since February 2024, over 50 official inquiries and reports have been processed regarding the structure. In the period between September and early October 2026 alone, the municipality forwarded 29 civilian reports to API. A recent letter sent on October 9 by Deputy Mayor Emilian Georgiev calls for immediate safety measures, a formal repair schedule, and an official response from the national road authority.
