Sofia police arrest father and son for drug and medication trafficking

Police in Sofia have arrested a father and son for allegedly using a courier service to distribute narcotics and controlled prescription medications. The operation, conducted on August 17 in the Knezhievo, Druzhba, and Manastirski Livadi neighborhoods, targeted the duo after receiving intelligence regarding their activities.

During a search of a vehicle operated by a 27-year-old man, officers seized over 1,200 blisters of various medications including Rivotril, Bromazepam, Belbien, and Oxycodone, along with 900 Zopiclone tablets, 120 Tamol tablets, insulin syringes, and three black boxes containing a white powdery substance. Authorities also recovered 15,550 euros from the vehicle.

Further searches of the 50-year-old father's residence and a rented apartment in Manastirski Livadi yielded an additional 1,500 blisters of Tramadol, Rivotril, Belbien, Bromazepam, and Xanax. Additional cash was seized from both individuals. The suspects have been charged and detained for 72 hours following the involvement of the Sofia City Prosecutor's Office.
