Sofia restaurant sealed after tax inspection finds 11 violations
Inspectors from the National Revenue Agency (NAP) identified 11 violations during a check of a restaurant in Sofia. The investigation began with a controlled purchase where the establishment failed to issue a fiscal receipt, providing instead a fake slip from a non-fiscal printer.
Following the initial check, inspectors discovered discrepancies between cash on hand and recorded sales, the presence of non-fiscal vouchers, and the absence of required receipt books. The audit also revealed labor issues, noting that only one employee had a direct contract with the restaurant owner, while others were employed through a different company.
Due to staff refusing to cooperate, police from the First District Directorate of the Ministry of Interior were called to the scene. Authorities also sealed the restaurant for one night to investigate suspicions of remote access manipulation of the sales software and to ensure an uninterrupted inventory process. Fiscal inspectors plan to conduct 'open observation' over a five-day period starting October 11 to monitor real turnover.
