Sofia Södergård, Swedish dancer and choreographer, dies at 39

Dancer, choreographer, and drag artist Sofia Södergård has passed away at the age of 39 following a period of illness. Södergård was a prominent figure in the Swedish drag scene, performing under the name Qarl Qunt.

Her career included work with the dance company P*fect, which performed as an opening act for Lady Gaga, and various productions at major venues such as Dramaten in Sweden, Sadler’s Wells in London, and the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen. She was known for exploring themes of masculinity and femininity through works like SLICK and MASC.

Södergård had been battling uveal melanoma, a rare form of eye cancer, for several years. Despite various treatments, the cancer spread, and she had recently been informed that Swedish healthcare had no further treatment options to offer.
