Sofiane Belasri receives suspended sentence for sexual assault of teenager in London
Sofiane Belasri, an Algerian national, has received a suspended sentence after being convicted of sexual assault and sexual touching at Southwark Crown Court. The incident involved a 16-year-old girl near Liverpool Street station in London.
According to prosecutors, Belasri approached a group of teenagers, purchased alcohol for them, and exploited the victim's intoxicated state. The court heard that Belasri touched the girl's breasts over her clothing and attempted to coerce her and her friends into performing oral sex in an alleyway in exchange for vapes. The victim's impact statement noted that she remains deeply anxious around older men and feels unsafe walking in London at night.
Recorder Margia Mostafa imposed a two-year prison sentence, suspended for two years. Additionally, Belasri was placed on the sex offenders register, received a ten-year ban from approaching females under 18 in public, and was ordered to complete 15 sessions of the Building Choices programme along with 20 hours of rehabilitation activity.
