Sofiane Boufal declines Espérance de Tunis offer, stays in Europe

Moroccan winger Sofiane Boufal, 32, has turned down an attractive contract proposal from Tunisian champions Espérance Sportive de Tunis and will continue seeking a club in Europe. Boufal is a free agent after his short spell with French side Le Havre AC, where he earned roughly €35,000 per month. Espérance were reportedly ready to meet his financial demands, but Boufal preferred to remain in European football and is evaluating other offers.

The Tunisian club, looking to strengthen its attack, will now explore alternative targets. Other potential destinations mentioned include Moroccan side Wydad Casablanca as well as clubs in Europe and the Gulf region. Boufal, who has 47 caps and eight goals for Morocco and was part of the 2022 World Cup semi‑finalist squad, was not selected for the 2026 World Cup roster.
