SOFOFA Hub launches industrial efficiency program with five major companies
Five major Chilean companies—Colbún, CMPC, Molynor, Polpaico, and Pucobre—have joined the second 2026 cycle of the SOFOFA Hub Venture Client program to address specific operational and sustainability challenges.
The participating firms represent the mining, energy, materials, and cellulose sectors. Key objectives include reducing input consumption by at least 30%, decreasing fine particles by over 60% in waterless processes, and extending the lifespan of industrial components by up to 24 months.
Specific technological goals include: • Molynor: Developing digital tools using chemical and mineralogical data to optimize raw material combinations and reagent dosing. • Polpaico: Finding alternatives for sand separation that do not require water, addressing water scarcity issues. • Pucobre: Creating a digital twin to simulate mining blasts and predict vibrations and fragmentation. • CMPC: Implementing real-time monitoring for cellulose production linings to transition toward condition-based maintenance. • Colbún: Protecting energy infrastructure exposed to marine environments.
