Soft Cell releases final album ‘Danceteria’ following death of Dave Ball

The British synth-pop duo Soft Cell has released its sixth and final studio album, ‘Danceteria’. The release serves as a final chapter for the group following the death of keyboardist Dave Ball, who passed away in his sleep on October 22, 2025, at the age of 66.

Singer Marc Almond revealed that the duo had agreed the new songs were finished just two days before Ball’s passing. The album is described as a song cycle inspired by New York City’s club scene in the early 1980s, moving from dance floors to darker urban settings. The final track on the album features Ball’s voice, providing a personal conclusion to their collaborative history.

Almond has confirmed that no further new music will be released under the Soft Cell name, stating, “I would never do another Soft Cell album without Dave.” The album is available in various formats, including digital, CD, vinyl, and cassette.
