SoftBank to introduce dedicated 5G SA network logo on devices
SoftBank has announced it will become the first mobile network operator in Japan to display a dedicated network logo, ‘SoftBank 5G SA’, on devices when connected to 5G Standalone (SA) services. The rollout is scheduled to begin sequentially from September 29.
Unlike 5G Non-Standalone (NSA) which relies on 4G core network components, 5G SA utilizes a dedicated 5G core network and base stations. This architecture allows users to experience the full potential of 5G, including higher speeds, lower latency, and improved performance in congested areas.
At launch, the service will be available for compatible iPhone and iPad models. Android device support is planned for a later date. SoftBank also offers a ‘Fast Access’ option for specific data plans, which allocates more network resources to 5G SA users to ensure faster data speeds even in crowded locations.
