Sofyan Amrabat defends playing style at Ajax

Sofyan Amrabat has addressed criticisms regarding his playing style since joining Ajax Amsterdam. In an interview with NOS, the 30-year-old Moroccan midfielder discussed the high expectations placed on the number 6 position in Dutch football.

Amrabat joked about the unrealistic demands often placed on defensive midfielders, suggesting observers expect them to win the ball, dribble past multiple opponents, provide assists, score, and still recover in defense. He stated that he fulfills his role in his own way, focusing on helping the team play better.

Beyond his technical role, Amrabat emphasized his desire to provide leadership and a winning mentality to his teammates, particularly younger players. He expressed his ultimate ambition to help Ajax win the league championship this season.
