Sofyan Amrabat details Jordi Cruijff's role in Ajax transfer

Sofyan Amrabat has revealed the pivotal role Jordi Cruijff played in his transfer to Ajax. The midfielder noted that his existing relationship with Cruijff, dating back to Cruijff’s time at Barcelona, facilitated months of communication regarding a potential move to the Netherlands.

Amrabat stated that Cruijff’s winning mentality and clear ambition to secure championships were decisive factors. Cruijff reportedly told him, “I am not here to be second or third. I want to be champion.” This vision resonated with Amrabat, who expressed a desire to help return Ajax to the top of Dutch football.

Despite interest from other major clubs, including concrete interest from Juventus on the day of his signing, Amrabat chose to honor his commitment to Ajax after terminating his contract with Fenerbahçe. He signed a two-year contract at the Johan Cruijff Arena in late August.
