Sogama reports 37 percent increase in annual losses

Sogama, the public company managing waste in Galicia, reported a 37 percent increase in losses for 2025, with deficits rising from 5.9 million euros in 2024 to over 8.1 million euros. This financial decline occurs despite a 38 percent increase in the fees charged to local councils.

To address the financial instability of the Cerceda-based environmental complex, the Xunta de Galicia recently injected 10 million euros through a capital increase. This move increased the regional government's stake in the company from 51 percent to 55 percent, while Naturgy remains a shareholder. The capital injection aims to prevent further fee hikes for municipalities.
