Military violence incidents reported in Colombia, Venezuela, and Honduras

Several violent incidents involving military personnel have been reported across Latin America. In Sogamoso, Colombia, at the Tarqui Artillery Battalion, a professional soldier allegedly shot a second sergeant before committing suicide. The incident left two military members dead, one soldier wounded, and a unit canine injured. Authorities are investigating whether a dispute over orders triggered the violence.

In Táchira, Venezuela, a soldier identified as Raymond Paz reportedly opened fire on colleagues at the Santo Domingo Air Base. The shooting resulted in three deaths, including Lieutenant Víctor Moreno, and left two sergeants wounded before the perpetrator fled the scene. Security forces have launched a search operation to locate the suspect.

In Honduras, eight soldiers were injured following the explosion of an object found during reforestation activities at the First Field Artillery Battalion in Zambrano, Francisco Morazán. While the object was not initially identified as a grenade, officials suggest it may have been small casings with propellant that detonated upon manipulation. The injured personnel are reported to be in stable condition.
