Sogndal Fotball board resigns following coach dismissal

The board of Sogndal Fotball has announced its resignation and called for an extraordinary general meeting on September 22. The board, led by Jan Rune Årøy, stated that the decision was made to facilitate a smooth transition and allow a new leadership team sufficient time to establish future priorities.

This leadership change follows the recent dismissal of head coach Luis Pimenta. The club terminated Pimenta’s employment following external and internal investigations into reports of concern raised by players. While the club has concluded its investigations, it has declined to comment on the specific findings or whether a severance package was provided. Eirik Bakke, who has served as interim coach for over two months, is expected to continue in his role.
