Sogndal Fotball faces leadership crisis and coaching investigation

Sogndal Fotball is facing significant internal instability as it struggles to avoid relegation from the Obos-ligaen. The club is currently navigating a leadership crisis characterized by multiple departures and ongoing investigations.

Head coach Luis Pimenta has stepped aside until at least August 26 to facilitate an investigation into a formal complaint filed by the players. The complaint alleges that Pimenta fostered a culture of fear and engaged in discriminatory treatment, specifically targeting African players.

In addition to the coaching investigation, the club has seen the immediate departure of sports director Terje Skjeldestad. The administrative instability is further compounded by the fact that general manager Gisle Olsen is on sick leave and two marketing managers have resigned within the last year.
