Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Tai reach China Masters quarterfinals

In the 2026 China Masters badminton tournament in Shenzhen, the new Malaysian men’s doubles pairing of Soh Wooi Yik and Aaron Tai advanced to the quarterfinals. The duo defeated China’s world No. 10 pair, Chen Boyang and Liu Yi, in straight games with a score of 21-13, 21-18.

Soh Wooi Yik noted that their success stemmed from a variety of playing styles that left opponents without data to study. Aaron Tai, 19, credited his experience with Soh for helping him manage court pressure.

Other notable results from the tournament include women’s singles world No. 1 An Se Young extending her winning streak to 30 matches. However, the tournament saw an upset in the men’s singles category as world No. 1 Jonatan Christie was eliminated by Hong Kong’s Jason Gunawan.
