Sohag International Airport customs seize laser components worth 720,000 EGP

Customs officials at Sohag International Airport in Egypt have seized a large quantity of laser device components and supplies, valued at approximately 720,000 Egyptian pounds. The seizure occurred during the inspection of passengers arriving on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah.

Following an X-ray scan that raised suspicions, a specialized committee inspected the passenger's luggage. The confiscated items included 57 fiber optic lenses, 550 additional lenses, 540 rubber gaskets, 30 xenon lamps, and 1,700 spacer pieces, all specifically designed for laser equipment. The incident was flagged as a violation of customs and import/export laws. Legal proceedings have been initiated following the seizure.
