Sohail Afridi faces non-bailable arrest warrants from Islamabad court

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and three other Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders. The warrants target Afridi, Meena Khan Afridi, Shahid Khattak, and Shafi Jan in connection with Case No. 975/24, which was registered at the Ramna Police Station involving terrorism-related charges.

The court directed the Station House Officer of the Ramna Police Station to personally oversee the arrests and ensure the accused are produced before the court. Because the warrants are non-bailable, police are prohibited from releasing the individuals at the station level.

This legal development occurs as PTI prepares for a nationwide protest and march toward Islamabad, scheduled for September 27, which Afridi intends to lead. The warrants follow previous instances where the accused failed to appear for court proceedings.
