SOI student wing backs ABVP in Panjab University elections

The Student Organisation of India (SOI), the student wing of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), has announced its unconditional support for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) in the Panjab University Campus Students’ Council (PUCSC) elections.

The alliance follows the rejection of the SOI candidate’s nomination papers, which prevented the organization from contesting directly. As a result, the SOI’s entire vote base and support will transfer to the ABVP’s presidential candidate, Ankit Bidhan. This political move is being interpreted as a potential signal regarding the relationship between the SAD and the BJP ahead of next year’s Punjab state elections.

Security has been increased across the university campus, with heightened vigilance and strict checks at entry gates to maintain law and order during the polling process.
