Sokoto ADC candidate criticizes government over rising banditry

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, has criticized the state government regarding escalating insecurity and banditry. Dan’iya highlighted recent attacks and the displacement of residents in communities such as Girkau, Romon Liman, Romon Sarki, Margai, and Masu.

Supporting concerns raised by Amnesty International, Dan’iya characterized the situation as a humanitarian and security emergency. He noted that displaced residents have staged protests, including blocking the Tambuwal-Jega and Tambuwal-Aleiro roads, to demand protection. The candidate called on both the Sokoto and Federal governments to intensify security operations, rescue abductees, and ensure the prosecution of perpetrators. Additionally, he demanded transparency regarding the use of public funds, specifically questioning how Federation Account allocations are being utilized to address insecurity and humanitarian needs.
