Sokoto authorities deny abduction of 18 health college students

Conflicting reports have emerged regarding the alleged abduction of approximately 18 students from Gamji College of Health Technology in Sokoto, Nigeria.

Initial reports suggested that the students were traveling in a chartered bus toward Oyo State when suspected terrorists attacked the vehicle. These accounts claimed the bus driver was killed and that the assailants moved toward the Mokwa area with the students.

However, the Sokoto State Government and the management of Gamji College of Health Technology have officially denied the incident. In statements released on October 5, 2026, both entities described the reports as false and misleading. The college management asserted that all students are safe and continuing their academic programs as planned.
