Sokoto bandits kill teacher and two others in ambush

Suspected bandits killed a newly recruited teacher, a driver, and a five-year-old boy during an ambush on the Gundumi-Isa road in Sokoto State, Nigeria.

The victims were identified as 30-year-old Maniru Sa’adu Imam, a teacher recently posted to Government Day Secondary School, Maitandu; Abdurrahman Umar, the vehicle's driver; and his son, Abubakar Abdurrahman. Imam was reportedly traveling back to the Isa Local Government Area after attending a salary verification exercise in the Sokoto metropolis.

A witness reported that the victims were traveling behind a convoy protected by a heavy security escort. While security personnel engaged the gunmen near Gundumi, causing them to flee, the assailants subsequently laid an ambush for the vehicles following the convoy.
