Sokoto community attacked by suspected Lakurawa terrorists
Suspected Lakurawa terrorists attacked the Ungushi community in the Kebbe Local Government Area of Sokoto State on Sunday. The attackers reportedly surrounded the village and opened fire on residents.
Local vigilantes engaged the attackers in a gun battle lasting over an hour. Residents reported that two people were killed during the incident, identified as Ali Kaurar Yaku Marshall and a welder named Lukman Bawa. A vigilante, Mustapha Auwalu, sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was treated at a general hospital.
While residents claimed that three terrorists were killed during the exchange of gunfire, local authorities have not yet independently confirmed these figures. The Sokoto State Police Command confirmed the attack, with spokesman DSP Ahmad Rufa’i stating that the command was awaiting further details from the local Divisional Police Officer.
