Muhammad Bello Aliyu Goronyo, the former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State, has resigned from the party, citing “purely personal” reasons. His resignation, effective August 31, 2026, follows a period of leadership crisis and factionalization within the state chapter of the PDP.

Shortly after his departure from the PDP, Goronyo was appointed as the Director-General of the campaign organization for Manir Muhammad Dan’iya, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Sokoto State election.
