Sokoto State Leaders Distribute Over N35m Aid to IDPs in Tureta and Bodinga
Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal fulfilled a pledge to support internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sokoto State by providing a total of ₦20 million in cash and food relief to the Tureta and Bodinga Local Government Areas. The distribution, overseen by the National Emergency Management Agency, included rice, beans, maize, blankets, rubber mats, cooking oil, tomato paste, seasoning cubes and salt for thousands of families.
The Sokoto State government also contributed ₦15 million, two trucks of rice and additional cash assistance to 1,550 IDPs in Bodinga following a recent security incident that left 14 dead and four injured. Each bereaved family received three bags of rice and ₦500,000, injured victims received two bags and ₦200,000, and other displaced persons received one bag of rice plus a ₦5,000 transport allowance. State officials, including Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, emphasized ongoing support and urged prayers for lasting peace and security.
