Sokoto State reports improving security as government addresses guard welfare

Sokoto State Governor Ahmed Aliyu has stated that security challenges in the state are gradually abating. During a meeting with the State Executive Council, the governor emphasized that his administration is working to tackle criminal elements and facilitate the safe return of internally displaced persons to their ancestral communities.

In a related development, the Sokoto State Government addressed concerns raised by members of the Community Guards Corps regarding their welfare, appointment letters, and access to operational equipment and ammunition. Col Ahmed Usman (retd.), Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, assured the personnel that their issues are receiving attention.

Usman noted that the state has already invested in logistics such as vehicles and motorcycles for security agencies. He clarified that ammunition procurement is highly regulated and handled through official channels, while the formalization of personnel engagement remains an ongoing administrative process being managed by relevant ministries.
