Sokratis Famellos urges government to enforce Supreme Court ruling on Katsele law

Syriza president Sokratis Famellos told a gathering of the Athens Bar Association that the state must immediately and fully implement the Supreme Court’s decision on the Katsele law, which reinstates protection for primary residences and safeguards over‑indebted consumers. He warned the government not to dilute the ruling, citing rising foreclosures, lax oversight of loan‑servicing funds, and billions in bank profits.

Famellos also commented on the formation of the new political formation EL.A.S, stating that Syriza will not create an opposition ballot against it and that the party should contribute to a broad progressive coalition aimed at removing Prime Minister Kyriakis Mitsotakis. He emphasized unity among progressive forces, rejected any secret talks with former leader Alexis Tsipras, and criticized the government's response to inflation, calling for more concrete measures to lower prices.
