Solé announces end of marriage to Professor Griff

Rapper Solé has announced the end of her nine-year marriage to Public Enemy member Professor Griff. In a social media post, Solé described the separation as the completion of a ‘sacred season’ and a significant life cycle.

Solé, whose real name is Tonya Michelle Johnston, noted that the couple would move forward separately with ‘deep respect, care and blessings’ for one another. She characterized the end of the relationship as a period of shared growth and spiritual evolution rather than providing specific details regarding divorce proceedings.

Solé and Richard Griffin, known as Professor Griff, had been acquaintances for nearly three decades before beginning a romantic relationship in 2016. They married in August 2017. Solé is also known for her previous marriage to R&B singer Ginuwine.
