Sol Puntano nursery implements hydroponic system in San Luis
The Sol Puntano nursery in San Luis has implemented an innovative hydroponic system for growing leafy vegetables. Supported by the Ministry of Sustainable Productive Development, the facility utilizes the Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), which involves a continuous circulation of water enriched with nutrient solutions to nourish plant roots without the need for soil.
The infrastructure consists of 12 production columns, each capable of holding 36 plants, allowing for the simultaneous cultivation of 432 specimens. Current varieties include biennial chard, butterhead lettuce, and curly lettuce.
According to Segismundo López, manager of Sol Puntano, the system enables controlled production with technical monitoring and regulated water usage, optimizing both space and water resources.
