Sola Air pauses Arlanda flights, shifts focus to Copenhagen's Kastrup

Swedish regional carrier Sola Air has suspended its scheduled service to Stockholm Arlanda Airport, citing low passenger demand and operational challenges. The airline will concentrate on its route to Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup), which it expects to grow. Company officials explained the move as an adaptation to competition from fast train connections, the legacy of a previous operator’s closure, and changed travel habits after the pandemic. Sola Air’s operations manager Henrik Ericsson said the decision reflects a strategic shift, while Group CEO Daniel Elfstedt highlighted the strong performance of the Copenhagen route. The pause may also be influenced by a 2023 Swedish transport authority review and EU aviation regulations.

The change affects travelers in Sweden and Denmark, with the airline planning to increase frequencies to Kastrup as it redirects capacity from the under‑performing Arlanda link.
