Solana Foundation launches DvP program for institutional settlement

The Solana Foundation has launched Solana DvP, an open-source escrow program designed to standardize delivery-versus-payment (DvP) settlement for financial institutions on the Solana blockchain. Released under the MIT license, the program provides a reusable API that allows for atomic settlement, meaning that tokenized assets and their corresponding payments are exchanged simultaneously. This mechanism aims to reduce counterparty risk and compress traditional settlement timelines—which often take one to two days via clearinghouses and custodians—into mere seconds.

JPMorgan provided professional input on institutional securities settlement practices and requirements during the development of the program, though the bank is not an operator or formal endorser of the system. The program is compatible with SPL Token and Token-2022 standards, supporting regulatory features such as transfer restrictions and the ability to pause tokens.

Technical documentation notes that the system requires 100% upfront funding for both the asset and payment legs of a trade, as it does not support netting. The Solana Foundation has completed external security audits and is currently seeking design partners and early participants ahead of a full production release.
