Solana leads blockchain fee market as most networks generate near zero revenue

Data from DefiLlama reveals a significant concentration in the blockchain fee market, where a vast majority of tracked networks generate minimal revenue. Out of 558 blockchains monitored over a 24-hour period, 399—approximately 71%—generated zero fees. Furthermore, 443 networks collected less than $10 in fees.

Only seven blockchains surpassed the $100,000 threshold in fees. Solana led the group with $1.09 million, followed by Tron at $922,900 and BNB Chain at $793,900. Other notable networks in the top seven included Ethereum ($435,000), Bitcoin ($325,600), Base ($114,800), and Robinhood Chain ($100,900).

The report notes that low fee generation does not strictly equate to zero activity, as some newer or low-cost networks deliberately maintain extremely small transaction prices or subsidize costs. However, the data highlights a stark imbalance between a small number of high-earning networks and the hundreds of others that fail to develop a meaningful market for blockspace.
