Bitcoin and Solana surge amid massive institutional ETF inflows

Bitcoin has experienced a significant price surge, briefly touching $87,200 before stabilizing in the $85,000 to $86,000 range. This upward momentum is attributed to increased institutional interest, improved market sentiment, and favorable regulatory developments in the United States. US spot Bitcoin ETFs saw a massive single-day net inflow of approximately $998.95 million on Monday, marking the highest daily inflow since October 2025. BlackRock’s IBIT fund led these inflows with roughly $381.4 million.

Simultaneously, Solana (SOL) has seen a bullish breakout, reaching levels not seen since early 2026. The token surged past $116, triggering over $18 million in short position liquidations. Solana spot ETFs also recorded strong performance, with $26.1 million in net inflows on September 21, driven largely by Bitwise’s BSOL ETF, which accounted for $14.4 million of that total. While Solana's price has hit a seven-month high, some reports note a divergence where institutional ETF outflows occurred even as the price rose.
