Solanda Goyes faces potential charges for influence peddling
The Attorney General's Office in Pichincha has requested a date and time from a judge to formally charge former member of the Judiciary Council, Solanda Goyes, with influence peddling.
Following a prior investigation involving Goyes and Margarita Carranco, prosecutor Fernando Camacho stated that evidence suggests Goyes may have acted as an author or accomplice in the crime of influence peddling. Goyes, who served as a member of the Council's Plenary until September 2025, has already been notified along with her legal representatives.
Goyes previously held the position of National Director of Access to Justice Services from 2019 until February 2024, when she transitioned to her role as a voting member of the Council. Her tenure followed the resignation of Xavier Muñoz. Although a motion for censure and removal was brought before the National Assembly in August 2025, it failed to reach the required qualified majority of 101 votes, receiving 75 affirmative votes.
