Solar energy and battery storage projects expand in Serbia and Slovenia

Renewable energy projects involving solar power and battery storage systems are expanding in Serbia and Slovenia.

In Serbia, Fortis Energy and Inelso Energy Systems are investing 25.5 million euros to construct a 30 MWp solar plant in Vojvodina. The facility will include a battery storage system and is expected to produce over 40 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power more than 11,000 households. Construction will be managed by Enkraft Energy. This project is part of Fortis Energy's broader expansion in the region, which includes other upcoming solar projects in Serbia and an ongoing 62 MW project in Albania.

In Slovenia, Holding Slovenske elektrarne has completed the second and third phases of the Prapretno solar plant, located on a former ash disposal site. The expanded complex now has a capacity of 9.8 megawatts, making it the largest solar power plant in the country. The project, valued at approximately 10.8 million euros, includes a 7 MW battery storage system with a 14 MWh capacity. The development was partially co-financed by the European Just Transition Fund.
