Solar Energy Corp of India (SECI) partners with CEEW and seeks CO2 sources for green methanol

The Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) and the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deepen cooperation on renewable‑energy development. The agreement, signed by SECI Managing Director Akash Tripathi and CEEW CEO Dr Arunabha Ghosh, aims to create new business models, improve power‑market mechanisms and promote sustainable growth across India’s clean‑energy ecosystem.

Separately, SECI issued an Expression of Interest to map carbon‑dioxide sources nationwide. The data‑gathering exercise will inform the National Green Hydrogen Mission’s plans for green methanol and green urea production, prioritising biogenic CO2 and locations near major ports such as Kandla and Tuticorin for export. The initiative does not involve any financial commitments but will help shape future policy and market development for renewable fuels of non‑biological origin.
