Solar energy expansion in Brazil via BYD and São Paulo initiatives

BYD has begun offering solar energy kits through all its dealerships in Brazil. The service is available to any consumer, regardless of whether they own or purchase a BYD vehicle. The package includes eight 600 W photovoltaic modules, an inverter, support structures, cables, and connectors, with an estimated monthly generation capacity of 600 kWh. The offering covers equipment, installation, local energy distributor homologation, and one year of insurance.

In São Paulo, the City Council has published a report on Bill No. 1,112/2025, which proposes the ‘Energia e Mobilidade SP’ program. This initiative aims to use photovoltaic energy to power the city’s electric bus fleet, seeking to reduce operational costs, attract investment, and accelerate the energy transition. The project is part of the ‘ISS VERDE’ municipal policy, which establishes guidelines for distributed generation and sustainability to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and promote green job creation.
