Solar energy sector focuses on storage, maintenance, and regulation
The solar energy sector is seeing a significant shift toward energy storage and specialized maintenance to ensure long-term viability. In Romania, Mircea Man of the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) stated that photovoltaic park investments are no longer profitable without energy storage capacities, noting that payback periods have increased significantly.
In Spain, the government is adjusting regulations for data centers, extending the timeframe for companies to meet an 80% renewable energy requirement. While providing more flexibility for strategic European digital sovereignty projects, the Ministry for the Ecological Transition (Miteco) maintains that the environmental ambition remains unchanged to prevent uncontrolled impacts on water resources and electricity prices.
On a technical level, experts emphasize the importance of preventive maintenance and proper cleaning protocols. To avoid thermal shock—which can cause cracks, layer damage, or short circuits—it is recommended to clean panels during cooler periods such as early morning or evening. Additionally, when expanding existing solar installations, it is critical to verify the compatibility of inverters and battery models, such as Pylontech systems, to ensure seamless integration.
