Solar energy projects advance in Brazil

Significant solar energy infrastructure projects are progressing in Brazil. In Águas de São Pedro, construction of a municipal photovoltaic plant has reached 35% completion. The project, representing a R$ 4.3 million investment through a partnership with the São Paulo State Government, aims to provide 1 megawatt-peak (MWp) of power. Once operational, expected by the end of 2026, the plant will use a remote self-consumption model to offset electricity costs for municipal buildings, including health, education, and public lighting facilities.

Simultaneously, the solar plant complex at Vitória Airport has reached 50% execution. Managed by Zurich Airport Brasil, the R$ 20 million project involves the installation of approximately 8,000 solar panels across 7.2 hectares. The complex is designed to have an installed capacity of 5,787 kWp, generating an estimated 769 MWh per month—enough to power roughly 5,000 homes. This initiative is part of a broader sustainability strategy to achieve energy self-sufficiency at the airport.
