Solar energy projects expand in Córdoba, Argentina

The Cooperativa de Servicios Públicos El Tío – Villa Concepción Ltda. has inaugurated a photovoltaic solar park located on Provincial Route 3. The facility features 1,890 solar panels spread across 1.5 hectares and is expected to cover approximately 20 percent of the local electricity demand.

The project was funded through a joint effort between the cooperative and the provincial government. Local officials noted that the infrastructure aims to diversify energy sources, promote sustainable development, and increase energy autonomy for rural communities in the San Justo department.

In a separate development within the province, community solar models are gaining traction as a way for small and medium-sized enterprises to mitigate volatile electricity prices. Companies like Iris Energía are promoting schemes where businesses participate in solar parks developed alongside cooperatives. These models allow for energy compensation at fixed rates, potentially offering savings of over 55 percent compared to average market tariffs.
