Solar mini-grids launched in Maevatanàna district

Two new solar power plants were inaugurated in the Maevatanàna district to boost rural electricity access. The facilities, located in Beanana and Antsiafabositra, provide power to 548 households and 31 public institutions.

The Beanana plant has a capacity of 50 kWp and serves 216 households through a 3.8 km network. The Antsiafabositra plant is larger, with a 90 kWp capacity, serving 332 households via an 8.5 km network. Both installations include battery storage and backup thermal generators to ensure 24-hour service via a prepaid system.

The project is expected to stimulate local economies, with 42 new economic activities planned for Antsiafabositra and six for Beanana.
