Solar Team Eindhoven unveils Stella Juva solar-powered ambulance

Dutch student team Solar Team Eindhoven announced the Stella Juva concept, described as the world’s first ambulance that runs entirely on solar energy while powering all onboard medical equipment. The vehicle is scheduled for an official presentation on 21 July 2026.

The project builds on the team’s experience in solar mobility, including four consecutive wins in the Cruiser Class of the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge and the off‑road solar vehicle Stella Terra, which completed a 1,000 km trek across Morocco. Local partner Tuningsupply, a Netherlands‑based specialist automotive components supplier, provides critical braking and control systems.

Field trials are planned for August 2026 at sites of humanitarian NGOs to demonstrate the ambulance’s ability to deliver patient care and operate medical devices in locations with limited fuel or electricity supplies.
