Solaria awarded €41 million EU aid to boost battery storage for Spanish agrivoltaic projects
Solaria, a renewable‑energy group, has secured €41 million in subsidies from Spain’s Institute for the Diversification and Savings of Energy (IDAE). The funding is part of the second call of the Innovative Renewable Energy and Storage Investment Programme, integrated in the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan and financed by the EU’s NextGenerationEU fund.
The grant will accelerate the deployment of battery‑storage systems linked to four innovative agrivoltaic projects in Castilla y León and Catalonia. Solaria said the award provides "un importante respaldo institucional" to its development model that combines renewable generation, energy storage and environmental integration, improving grid flexibility, reducing curtailment and supporting rising electricity demand from digitalisation and data‑centre operations.
