Solaris Bus & Coach secures major fleet orders in Szczecin and Łódź

Solaris Bus & Coach is expanding its presence in the Polish public transport sector through major fleet modernization contracts in Szczecin and Łódź.

The City of Szczecin has signed an agreement with Solaris to deliver 20 Urbino 18 electric articulated buses to the SPAK transport company. Scheduled for delivery between 2027 and 2028, these zero-emission vehicles will feature Solaris High Energy battery packs and support both plug-in and pantograph charging. The buses will include advanced safety systems, climate control, and photovoltaic panels to assist auxiliary power systems.

In Łódź, MPK Łódź is completing a significant fleet renewal, having received 100 new buses this year. This includes 36 electric vehicles and 64 Solaris Urbino mild hybrid models. The new vehicles are intended to replace older buses from 2011 and 2013 to reduce the average fleet age to approximately 4.5 years. The mild hybrid technology is expected to reduce fuel consumption by 10-15% by recovering energy during braking.
